my whole family loves this dish i can remember growing up in the country and having oxtails on saturday evenings for dinner oh how i miss those days!

Ingredients For yummy oxtails

3 lboxtails (cut up)

all purpose flour for dredging
-
3 Tbspvegetable shortening
-
14onions, small white
-
1bay leaf
-
1 cmushrooms, fresh
-
salt &pepper
-
1 csliced carrots
-
1clove garlic minced
-
2 cdry red wine'beef stock or consomm'e
How To Make yummy oxtails

1preheat oven to 350*roll oxtails in flour seasoned with salt and pepper

2brown the meat in the shortening in a hot skillet and transfer to a casserole dish for baking

3add carrots,onions &garlic to the pan and brown well
-
4transfer this to the casserole and add the wine and seasonings.add enough beef stock to barely cover and sprinkle with salt and pepper

5cover and bake for 3hrs.or until meat is tender

6saut'e the mushrooms in butter and add to the casserole the last 30 min.of cooking
