Ingredients For sweet potato and chickpea wot

  • 14 oz
    chickpeas (or 1 can, us)
  • 2
    onion
  • 1 lb
    sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 c
    olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    beriberi
  • 1 Tbsp
    kibe (ethiopian seasoned, clarified butter)
  • salt, to taste
  • 3 clove
    garlic
  • water, as needed

How To Make sweet potato and chickpea wot

  • 1
    Cook onions in hot, dry skillet for about 3 minutes. Add oil, stir and cook 3 more minutes.

    Add berbere and stir well, adding a little water if needed for about 5 minutes. Add sweet potatoes, lower heat slightly, cook for 5 minutes.

    Add chickpeas, garlic and salt. Add a little water, stir and cook for 5 more minutes. Then add butter and cook until potatoes are tender. Taste for salt and serve.
