  • 2 lg
    onions, sliced
  • 2 lg
    green peppers, cut in strips
  • home fries or french fries
  • 3 lg
    pita breads

How To Make pocket dogs, jersey style

  • 1
Heat pitas, cut in half and open the pocket. Keep warm in foil until all other ingredients are ready.
  • 2
Fry the onions and peppers in a little oil or butter in a large skillet until softened. While they are cooking, fry the potatoes or french fries until browned and tender.
  • 3
Deep fry the hot dogs or fry in a skillet with some oil.
  • 4
To assemble: take a half of a warm pita, opening it and placing a deep fried hot dog in the pocket, then add some fried onions and peppers, next add some fried potatoes or french fries. Top with ketchup or mustard, whichever you prefer. We like ketchup on our "dogs" but you can use whatever you prefer.
