Simple and great tasting Black-eyed peas, I like them with a fresh pan of cornbread and glass of milk.

Ingredients For new years day black-eyed pea's

  • 1 pkg
    black-eyed peas (1 lb)
  • 2 c
    chicken broth
  • 1 qt
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    pepper
  • 1 stalk
    celery
  • HOW TO COOK

How To Make new years day black-eyed pea's

  • 1
    Get a large pan and soak 1 pound bag of black eyed peas overnight! Enough water to cover the top of beans; depends how soupy you want them.

    After soaking overnight, remove from refrigerator and and put pan on stove with a medium heat.

    Add 1 stalk finely chopped celery, salt and pepper
  • 4
    Add chicken broth (2 cans or one box) or home made
  • 5
    Bring to a boil and them allow them to simmer and serve with cornbread.
