mom's stuffed peppers

Mom made these peppers for as long as I can remember! It was a favorite dinner of my dad. I'm not so much a "pepper fan", but Hubby just loves them! So now I make them for him!
*I have reduced the salt to 1 tsp from 2.
We don't use the salt that was used back in the '60's.

Ingredients For mom's stuffed peppers

4bell peppers
-
1 lbground beef
-
1/3 cchopped onions
-
1 tspsalt
-
1/3 tsppepper
-
1 cantomato soup
-
1 tspsugar
-
1 ccooked rice
-
2 Tbspflour
-
water
How To Make mom's stuffed peppers
-
1Prepare the bell peppers. Cut off the tops, and remove the seeds and membrane from each pepper.
In a large pot of boiling water, boil peppers for 1 minute. Drain and set aside. -
2In a large skillet, brown the ground beef.
Add onions, tomato soup, cooked rice, salt, pepper, and sugar. Mix well. -
3Sprinkle flour over the top, and let simmer for 15 minutes.
Stir occasionally.
If mixture seems dry add some water to loosen it up. -
4Fill the peppers with the meat/rice mixture.
Stand upright in casserole dish
Bake at 275 degrees, for 30 minutes. -
5*optional, sprinkle the tops with seasoned bread crumbs.
