I was brought up calling spaghetti sauce "gravy".

Ingredients For mom's gravy

  • 10 clove
    garlic
  • 1/2 c
    olive oil
  • 4-5
    large cans san marzano whole tomatoes
  • fresh basil
  • salt and pepper

How To Make mom's gravy

  • 1
    Slice your garlic thin and brown in olive oil. Add tomatoes and crush with your hand or use potato masher. Add basil and seasonings. Add partially cooked meatballs. Bring to a boil, lower to a simmer and simmer for about 2 hours.

    You don't have to add meatballs. You can just use it as a marinara sauce.
