I created this braised chicken recipe with the addition of honey mustard. It goes great with a side of wild rice, mac and cheese, or potatoes au gratin.

    olive oil
  • 8 lg
    fresh chicken thighs (skin-on)
  • 2 md
    shallots, chopped

  • 2 Tbsp

  • 2 tsp

How To Make honey mustard braised chicken

  • 1
Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium heat; cook chicken thighs in the hot oil until browned, about 5 minutes per side. Remove chicken thighs from the skillet. Transfer to a large bowl and set aside.
  • 2
Cook and stir chopped onion in the same skillet until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • 3
Stir in garlic; cook and stir until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • 4
Stir in 1 cup honey mustard, heavy cream, dry onion soup mix, red pepper flakes and sea salt/black pepper until thoroughly combined.
  • 5
Add remaining honey mustard over the chicken thighs in the bowl; mix well.
  • 6
Return chicken thighs to the skillet, cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until chicken thighs are tender and no longer pink inside, 25 to 30 minutes.
