I make this quick rice dish and serve it with a Yogurt dip when i do not have time to cook

Ingredients For garbanzo pulao (pilaf)

2 cbasmati rice
-
1 cangarbanzos juice drained and rinsed under cold running water

1/2onion sliced
-
1 tspcumin seeds
-
2serrano chiles , feel free to reduce or increase according to taste

2 Tbspcanola oil
-
1bay leaf
-
1 stickcinnamon
-
3cloves
-
1 tspginger paste/ crushed

1 tspgarlic paste/ crushed

1 1/2 tspsalt or to taste

3 1/2 cwater
How To Make garbanzo pulao (pilaf)

1Wash and drain rice
-
2Heat oil in a pot
-
3Once oil is heated (not smoking)add the Cumin seeds,cinnamon, cloves and bay leaves.Saute till it sizzles a lil bit.

4Add sliced onion and fry till light brown

5Now add the ginger and garlic pastes with the serrano peppers

6Once ontion is brown add the Garbanzo beans, fry for about 30 seconds

7Add the drained rice and salt to the mix. Saute for about 1 minute

8Add 31/2 cups of water and bring to boil
-
9Once it comes to a boil reduce to low flame and cover till the rice is done. It will look nice and soft .

10Serve by itself or with any chicken dish. I usually like to serve with a yougrt/ Cusomber Dip that we call Raita
