I LOVE FRESH CABBAGE AND MY FRIENDS HAVE HAD A BUMPER CROP THIS YEAR. I love it fried and this is a great recipe. Hope you enjoy this Southern Recipe.

Ingredients For fried cabbage with bacon and onion

1 lbgood bacon, finely chopped

1 mdonion, chopped

2 lbcabbage, finely diced

1/4 tspred pepper flakes

1/2 tspsalt

1/2 tspblack pepper

2 small pinches of sugar
How To Make fried cabbage with bacon and onion

1Fry bacon in large fry pan until it is crisp and brown. Drain and set aside. Keep bacon drippings to use later.

2With adequate amount of bacon drippings in fry pan (about 1 cup), Add onion to bacon drippings and stir until translucent. ADD: Chopped cabbage, pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stirring until all of cabbage is coated, more drippings may be necessary to prevent sticking. ADD: Crumbled bacon bits, pinches of sugar (optional) but the sugar brings out the flavor. COVER and cook over LOW heat until cabbage is tender.
