Ingredients For dave's one pot taco spaghetti

  • 1-1/4 lbs. 90% lean ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons jarred minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 packet (0.85-oz.) old el passo taco seasoning mix
  • 1 (14.5-oz.) can diced tomatoes
  • 2-1/4 cups water
  • 8 ounces spaghetti, uncooked
  • 1 (slightly heaping) cup, shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • dried minced parsley, to sprinkle on top the main dish

How To Make dave's one pot taco spaghetti

  • 1
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a bit of canola oil. Then add the onion and ground beef. Cook and stir occasionally, until the ground beef and onion is brown. Then add the minced garlic, and continue cooking for one more minute. Drain off the excess fat.
  • 2
Add the taco seasoning, diced tomatoes, and water. Stir to combine, and continue cooking over medium heat, then add the spaghetti. Be sure the spaghetti is covered with the liquid.
  • 3
Bring to a boil. Then reduce heat to low, cover skillet with a lid, and continue simmer for 15 minutes, or until spaghetti is cooked; stir occasionally.
  • 4
Remove the lid, and continue cooking for a few more minutes, or until excess liquid has evaporated somewhat. Turn off the heat.
  • 5
Now add the shredded cheese, and cover the skillet with a lid. Let the cheese melt.
  • 6
Place the chopped fresh parsley (or the dried parsley on top), and serve immediately.
