I am presenting a brand new delicious recipe. It combines baked fusilli with sharp cheddar cheese and zesty sauteed sliced duck breasts on the bottom.

    olive oil
  • 6
    duck breasts (skin-on), sliced thick
  • 3
    banana peppers, diced
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    Creole seasoning
  • 2 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1/2 c
    teriyaki sauce
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    Dijon mustard mixed with brown sugar
  • 6 tsp
    dried basil, divided
  • 16 oz
    uncooked fusilli pasta
  • 1 Tbsp
    margarine
  • 1 Tbsp
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 3/4 c
    milk
  • 3/4 c
    half and half
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz
    sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

How To Make cheddar baked fusilli with zesty duck

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

    Coat the bottom and sides of a 9x13 inch casserole dish with cooking spray.

    Heat olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced duck breasts and diced banana peppers. Begin to saute them for 5 minutes or the duck are tender.

    Stir in creole seasoning, ground cumin, teriyaki sauce, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, and 3 teaspoons dried basil. Remove from heat.

    Spoon into an greased casserole dish and spread evenly.

    Cook fusilli pasta according to package directions; drain.

    Melt margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

    Stir in heavy cream, milk, half and half, cream cheese, and remaining dried basil. Cook, stirring frequently for 3 minutes, until the mixture boils and thickens.

    Combine half shredded sharp cheddar cheese to milk mixture; stir until cheese melts. Add cooked fusilli pasta; mix well. Remove from heat.

    Slowly spread onto sauteed duck mixture in the casserole dish evenly. Sprinkle with remaining sharp cheddar cheese.

    Bake for 30 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Cool completely for 10 minutes.
