Sometimes we have all kinds of spices already in our cupboards, so why not make little packets of this taco mix instead of buying them. Sometimes we go shopping and forget to pick up the taco seasoning packet. Whatever the reason, here is a recipe to make your own little taco seasoning packet or make many and store to have handy. Ingredients For taco mix packet

  • 2 tsp
    instant minced onion
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    cumin, ground
  • 1/2 tsp
    red pepper, dried, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic, instant, minced
  • 1/2 tsp
    cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp
    oregano, dried

    Place all ingredients in little baggy or in a 6 inch square of aluminum foil and seal air tight. Or put all ingredients together and use immediately for tacos as other taco mix packets

    Recipe for tacos: 1 lb ground beef, 1 taco mix packet, 3/4 c. water. Brown ground beef, add mix packet and water, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook uncovered for about 10 minutes, until liquid is reduced, stirring once or twice. Scoop up into taco shells, top with toppings of choice (tomato, lettuce, cheese, onion, avacado, etc)

    Taco bake: 1 pound ground beef, browned, remove from heat and stir in taco mix packet ingredients, 2 tbsp cornstarch, 1 (12 oz) can whole kernel corn, 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce, 1 1/2 cup water. Cook, stirring until mixture boils. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, stirring once or twice. Add 1 cup corn chips (fritos) and stir. Pour into greased 2 quart casserole. Top with 1 cup corn chips and 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese. Bake in 400 degree oven 10 minutes Makes 5 or 6 servings.
