I created this recipe with sharp and extra sharp cheddar cheeses. It's a great side dish to mac and cheese.

Ingredients For double sharp cheddar meatloaf

  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 lg
    vidalia sweet onion, peeled and sliced
  • 1 Tbsp
    sea salt mixed with black pepper
  • 1/2 c
    grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 c
    shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 2 lb
    ground chuck
  • 2
    egg whites
  • 3/4 c
    panko bread crumbs
  • 4 Tbsp
    processed cheese sauce, divided
  • 2 Tbsp
    steak seasoning
  • 1 c
    shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese

How To Make double sharp cheddar meatloaf

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced vidalia onion and saute for 5 minutes or until completely tender.

    Remove from the heat and season with sea salt/black pepper and Parmesan cheese. Stir in 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Set aside.

    In a large bowl, combine the ground chuck, egg whites, bread crumbs, 2 tablespoons cheese sauce and steak seasoning; mix well. Add the shredded extra cheddar cheese.

    Press half of the meat mixture into a 9x5-inch loaf pan. Add the sauteed onion mixture and remaining cheese sauce. Spoon the remaining meat mixture on top. Sprinkle with remaining sharp cheddar cheese and press it down.

    Bake for 30 minutes or until the cheeses are melted. Cool completely.
