I created this meatloaf recipe in the style of a Seattle Hot Dog. The filling inside this meatloaf includes sauteed onions, jalapenos, and cream cheese. There's no cabbage in this recipe.

Ingredients For seattle meatloaf

  • 1 Tbsp
    avocado oil
  • 1 lg
    vidalia sweet onion, peeled and diced
  • 3
    fresh jalapeno peppers, sliced
  • 3 Tbsp
    honey mustard
  • 2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 3/4 c
    panko bread crumbs
  • 3
    egg whites
  • 1
    packet dry onion soup mix
  • 2 tsp
    crushed red pepper flakes
  • 3/4 c
    sweet and spicy barbecue sauce
  • 16 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz
    Monterey jack cheese, shredded

How To Make seattle meatloaf

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced vidalia onion and sliced jalapenos and saute for 5 minutes or until tender. Remove from heat and stir in the honey mustard.

    In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg whites, dry onion soup mix, red pepper flakes and barbecue sauce; mix well until blended.

    Add half the meat mixture into a 9x5-inch loaf pan. Spread the cream cheese over the meat mixture.

    Add the sauteed onion-jalapeno mixture and sprinkle with shredded Monterey jack cheese. Top with remaining half of the meat mixture.

    Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes before slicing.
