How To Make french onion meatloaf
-
1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat an 9x5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
-
2Melt the margarine in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced red onion and saute for 7 minutes until tender. Stir in the steak sauce/brown sugar mixture and simmer for 3 minutes. Set aside.
-
3In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, eggs, breadcrumbs, dry onion soup mix, steak seasoning and 3/4 cup French onion dip; mix together until blended.
-
4In a small bowl, whisk the cream cheese and remaining French onion dip together until combined and set aside.
-
5Transfer the meat mixture to a piece of waxed paper and flatten to a 1/2-inch thick rectangle.
-
6Spread the French onion dip mixture in the center of the meat rectangle. Add the sauteed onions over the filling and top with the white American cheese slices, leaving a bit of space at one end for easier rolling and sealing.
-
7Pick up the edge of the waxed paper to roll the flattened meat into a log around the filling. Seal the ends and seam and place the loaf into a loaf pan.
-
8Bake in the preheated oven about 35 minutes. Let stand for 6 minutes before slicing.
