Ingredients For southwestern burgers

  • 4 oz
    can chopped green chilies
  • 4 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1 tsp
    chili powder
  • 3/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 3/4 lb
    bulk pork sausage
  • 8 slice
    monterey jack cheese
  • 8
    hamburger buns, split and toasted
  • 8
    lettuce leaves
  • 1 lg
    tomato, sliced
  • 1-2
    ripe avocados, peeled and sliced
  • mayonnaise or mustard opitional

How To Make southwestern burgers

  • 1
    In a large bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients. Crumble beef and sausage over mixture. mix well. Shape into 8 patties. Grill, covered, over medium heat for 5 minutes on each side, or until well done. Top each burger with a cheese slice. Grill 1-2 minutes longer. Serve on buns with lettuce, tomato, avocado and mayonnaise or mustard. Makes 8 servings.
