Ingredients For marinara sauce, basic and easy

3tbsp. oil

1large onion, chopped

2heaping tsp. garlic powder

128 oz, can whole peeled tomatoes with juice

28 oz. cans tomato sauce

2tsp. dried oregano
-
2tsp. dried basil

2whole bay leaves
-
1tbsp. sugar

salt and pepper to taste
How To Make marinara sauce, basic and easy

1Over medium heat, heat oil in a large skillet and add onion, and garlic powder. Saute for 3 to 5 minutes until onions begin to appear translucent. Add the tomatoes and tomato sauce; stir. Add the herbs and bay leaves. Sprinkle in sugar, salt and pepper. Lower heat and continue to simmer, uncovered, for about 20 to 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.

3Using kitchen scissors, I always cut the tough stems from canned tomatoes because they never cook down.
