My Gram used to serve this as a side dish...I made it more of a full meal with the addition of chicken. For some reason, she would always serve this with braised steak. It's similar to a macaroni and cheese, with a nice tang, from the cheddar and sour cream.. My kids love it! Enjoy!

Ingredients For ~ grams macaroni & cream ~

  • 2 c
    macaroni, cooked according to box instructions
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 1/2 - 2 c
    sharp, cheddar cheese - shredded
  • 1 tsp
    each - salt & pepper or to taste
  • 1 Tbsp
    both - dry minced onion & dried parsley
  • 1 1/2 c
    cooked chicken, cubed - optional
  • 2 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • paprika
    for garnish

How To Make ~ grams macaroni & cream ~

    Cook macaroni and drain.

    Add macaroni to a large bowl and stir in cheese, salt and pepper, chicken if adding.

    Stir in sour cream, onion and parsley. Grease an 11 x 7 baking dish and spread mixture evenly into dish.

    Sprinkle with paprika and bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 - 35 minutes.

    Serve as a side to meat entree or as I did, with adding chicken. Note: for reheating, I add a little milk, as with any pasta, it will absorb the liquids. I've also added a little extra sour cream.
