The recipe is from "Mary Masters, My Great Recipes" cards I used to get in the mail every couple of months. I made it for my (then) future husband and it's the best baked macaroni and cheese either of us have ever tried. Our 2 sons loved it too! You can use other varieties of macaroni or cheese for a change of pace.

Ingredients For double cheese macaroni & cheese

2 cuncooked elbow macaroni

1-1/2 cshredded cheddar cheese

12 ozcottage cheese

1/4 cbutter
-
1/4 cflour
-
2 cmilk
-
1/2 tspsalt

1/8 tspblack pepper
How To Make double cheese macaroni & cheese

1Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain.

2Alternate layers of macaroni, cottage cheese, and cheddar in greased 2-quarty baking dish, beginning with macaroni and ending with cheese.

3Melt butter in saucepan; stir in flour and blend until smooth.

4Blend in milk; heat to boiling, stirring constantly, and cook until thickened, about 2 minutes. Add salt & pepper.

5Pour sauce over macaroni & cheese.

6Bake at 375 for 30 minutes.
