american chop suey

This is a classic, quick and easy pasta dish that I have made forever. I do play with ingredients as far as adding mushrooms, diced tomatoes and grated carrots in addition to switch it up a bit and I may play with seasoning as well (I do add a little curry sometimes!) Make it your own and enjoy!

Ingredients For american chop suey

  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 lg
    green pepper (rough chop)
  • 1 md
    onion (rough chop)
  • 2 clove
    garlic (minced)
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 jar
    favorite tomato sauce (i use victoria's marinara)
  • 1 can
    cambell's tomato soup
  • 2 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp
    oregano (dried)
  • 1/2 tsp
    basil (dried)
  • 1/2 tsp
    crushed red pepper (optional)
  • salt & pepper (to taste)
  • 1 box
    pasta (i use cavatappi)

How To Make american chop suey

    1) Sauté peppers and onions in olive oil over medium heat. When Onions are tender, add garlic. Cook for a few minutes until garlic is fragrant. Set aside.

    2) Brown beef in deep pan (you will be adding sauce and veggies to this.) Drain excess fat from pan, I leave a little for flavor.

    3) While browning meat, bring pot of water to a boil with salt and a little olive oil.

    4) Add veggies, tomato paste, can of soup, tomato sauce and seasoning (to taste)to ground beef, stir and simmer for a few minutes.

    5) Once pasta is cooked, drain and pour sauce onto pasta and stir. Enjoy!
