Ingredients For red bean and rice

1 lbdry red beans

1/2 lbham, cubed small

1 lgonion, chopped

1 cchopped green onion, white & green parts

1/4 cchopped green bell pepper

1/4 cchopped fresh parsley

1/2 tspbasil

2bay leaves
-
1/4 cbutter

1/2 tspsalt

1 tspcayenne pepper
How To Make red bean and rice

1Place beans in a large pot. Cover with water. Bring to a rolling boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let soak overnight.

2In the morning, Bring to a boil again. Add remaining ingredients. Reduce heat and simmer for at least 3 hours. The beans will become creamy but most will remain whole.

3Add water while cooking if needed.

4Serve over fluffy long grain rice.
