baked macaroni and cheese with tuna

This is my idea of comfort food. I love Mac and Cheese. Paring it with tuna gives me a complete Main course. If you like Tuna, and Mac and cheese. You will love this casserole with the buttery crumb topping.

Ingredients For baked macaroni and cheese with tuna

  • 8 oz
    macaroni elbows(1/2 box)
  • TUNA
  • 2 can
    5 ounce can white tuna in water
  • 2
    stalk celery finely chopped
  • 4 Tbsp
    chopped sweet onion
  • 1 Tbsp
    dried parsley
  • 4 Tbsp
    mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp
    dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp
    paprika
  • 1
    pinch of black pepper and salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    dill weed
  • 1 c
    corn
  • 1 c
    frozen peas cooked and drained if desired
  • SAUCE
  • 1 2/3 c
    whole milk
  • 10 oz
    about 10 ounces cubed vermont sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • CRUMB TOPPING
  • 1/2
    sleeve ritz cracker
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter melted
  • 4 Tbsp
    parmesan cheese

How To Make baked macaroni and cheese with tuna

    Cook macaroni according to directions on box but Aldente. Some firmness

    While macaroni is cooking combine all ingredients for tuna in a bowl. Mix well. Drain macaroni and stir in to tuna mixture. Place in buttered casserole dish.

    In a pan melt 2 tablespoons butter. Heat until melted. Add the flour and stir until thickened. Add the milk and the cheese, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Cook and stir until cheese is melted and bubbly.

    Pour cheese mixture over macaroni. Stir from bottom to top to combine.

    Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in microwave. Grind crackers in food processor. Mix with butter, and parmesan cheese. Sprinkle on top of casserole. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes, pr until top is golden brown.
