I love Asian food. This recipe is better than most of the sesame chicken I have had in restaurants. Really good and easy to make.

Ingredients For sesame chicken

  • 2 Tbsp
    each flour and cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp
    each baking soda, baking powder and sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    each soy sauce and water
  • 1 Tbsp
    dry sherry
  • 1 tsp
    canola oil
  • 1 lb
    chicken breast cut into pieces
  • 1 qt
    oil for frying
  • SAUCE
  • 1 c
    chicken broth
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    each dark soy sauce and white vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    each mirin, sesame oil, and fish sauce
  • 2 tsp
    chili paste
  • 2 clove
    garlic minced
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1/4 c
    cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp
    toasted sesame seeds

How To Make sesame chicken

    Mix together the first nine ingredients in bowl. Add the chicken and coat well. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.

    For the sauce Mix the first 9 ingredients for sauce together in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Mix the cornstarch and water together and add to sauce. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until thickened. Keep warm

    Heat oil to 375 degrees. Drop the battered pieces of chicken in hot oil. Cook until browned about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from oil and drain on paper towel lined plate.

    Stir chicken in sauce and top with toasted sesame seeds.
