crock pot bourbon street chicken
This is what my oldest son wants for his birthday dinner every year. It is a popular menu item at many Chinese restaurants but none of the local restaurants serve it here in Wyoming. Unlike other versions of Bourbon Street Chicken this one actually contains bourbon. It is sweet, spicy, and delish. Adjust the heat to your preference, I usually keep it somewhat mild for the hubby, although; the rest of it prefer it a bit spicier. this recipe doubles well and I usually do because everyone wants the leftovers for lunch the next day. Ingredients For crock pot bourbon street chicken

2-3 lbchicken breast halves, skinless and boneless

1/2 tspground ginger ( can use less if you like a liighter ginger flavor

1/4 tspcayenne pepper (more if you like it spicy) i have to keep it somewhat mild for my hubby

1/4 tspsea salt or kosher salt

2 Tbspcornstarch

2 clovegarlic, crushed

1/3 cbrown sugar, light

2 Tbspolive oil, extra virgin

2 Tbspapplesauce, unsweetened
-
2 Tbspketchup
-
1 Tbspcider vinegar
-
1/4 cbourbon ( i used jim beam )

1/3 csoy sauce, light

1/2 cwater
How To Make crock pot bourbon street chicken

1Cut chicken breast into bite size pieces and add to crock pot.

2In a medium bowl add the remaining ingredients and whisk until well blended; pour over the chicken in the crockpot and give a quick stir.

3Cook on low for 8 hours or 4 hours on high. Serve over steamed Jasmine Rice with a side of steamed broccoli and carrots.
