From my mother-in-law. I understand real coq au vin should be with red wine, but this is what she uses and we love it!

Ingredients For coq au vin

  • boneless chicken pieces
  • 1/2 c
    flour (approximate)
  • garlic powder
  • salt and pepper
  • 1
    onion, diced
  • olive oil
  • 1 c
    chicken broth
  • 1 c
    wine, riesling
  • 1-2 Tbsp
    tomato paste

How To Make coq au vin

  • 1
    Combine flour, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a zip loc bag
  • 2
    Shake chicken pieces in flour mixture
  • 3
    Heat olive oil in pan, sauté onions until translucent, then add chicken and brown
  • 4
    Add tomato paste to chicken broth.
  • 5
    Once chicken is browned add chicken broth mixture and wine. Cover and cook until chicken is done
