This is so good it makes you want to lick the skillet clean! The tender chicken is covered with crunchy bacon pieces, cheese and a delicious sauce. Great served with rice, pasta or mashed potatoes. You can use chicken breasts or tenderloins.

Ingredients For bacon smothered chicken

  • 4
    chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 1/2 lb
    bacon, uncooked
  • 1 can
    cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can
    water
  • 1 c
    shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 c
    all purpose flour seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 1 md
    onion, sliced into rings

How To Make bacon smothered chicken

    Fry bacon until crisip; remove from skillet and let cool. Dredge chicken breasts in seasoned flour and fry in bacon drippings until golden on each side. Remove to lightly greased casserole dish. Top chicken breasts with slices of onion.

    Mix together undiluted mushroom soup and can of water. Pour over chicken and onion. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 40 mins.

    Remove from oven and remove foil. Crumble bacon. Top chicken with cheese and bacon. Return to oven, uncovered, for additional 5 mins or until cheese is melted. Serve with rice, pasta or mashed potatoes.
