Ingredients For venison rice casserole

  • 1 lb
    ground venison
  • 1 c
    rice, uncooked
  • 1 sm
    onion, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp
    shortening
  • 1 can
    mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    tomato juice
  • 1 1/2 c
    boiling water
  • 1 c
    cheddar cheese, grated

How To Make venison rice casserole

  • 1
    Cook venison, onion, and rice in shortening until lightly browned. Add mushrooms, salt, tomato juice and boiling water. Bake in a greased casserole, covered, at 350 degrees for one hour. Uncover dish and sprinkle with cheese. Return to oven until cheese melts (about 7 - 10 minutes).
