Blue Ribbon Recipe

This dish is so decadent and creamy! We loved the addition of cream cheese. It adds a slight tang and makes the macaroni super creamy. Even though there's only a little bit, you taste a bit of spiciness from the mustard. Very yummy! Perfect as an entree or a side dish. A great recipe to use leftover holiday ham too.

Ingredients For cheese and macaroni with ham

  • 6 Tbsp
    butter
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 c
    milk
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese
  • 2 c
    shredded cheddar
  • 2 tsp
    spicy brown mustard
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 3 c
    uncooked macaroni
  • 3/4 c
    breadcrumbs
  • 2 Tbsp
    parsley, minced
  • 1
    ham steak, precooked and cubed

How To Make cheese and macaroni with ham

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cook macaroni.

    Melt 4 tablespoons butter in large saucepan. Stir in flour until smooth. Add milk, stir constantly until bubbly. Add cream cheese. After melted, stir in salt, pepper, and mustard.

    Add cheddar, stir; remove from heat.

    Combine pasta, ham, and sauce.

    Add to baking dish.

    In a separate small pan melt 2 tablespoons butter; toss breadcrumbs and parsley.

    Sprinkle over macaroni.

    Bake uncovered at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
