salisbury steak, my favorite
I just ate my first Salisbury steak that I really liked. This recipe almost made me want to lick the plate. For the Heinz chili sauce, I used Andy's http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/sauce-spread/other-sauce-spread/homemade-chili-sauce.html I tweaked the original recipe, just a little for our taste, so you should read the original to get your own interpretations. http://www.tasteandtellblog.com/lessons-learned/ She learned her lesson on her blog about the difference of Heinz Chili Sauce and hot chili sauce.

Ingredients For salisbury steak, my favorite
- PATTIES

(but you can make them anyway you like)

1 lblean ground beef

1/4 mdof an onion, finely chopped

1/4of a green pepper, finely chopped

2 tspminced garlic

1/4 tspdry mustard

1/4 tsppaprika, sweet mild

2 tspemeril's essence creole seasoning - also referred to as bayou blast:

1/4 tspsalt and pepper, to taste
- SAUCE

6 Tbspbutter

8 oz(about 2 cups) sliced fresh mushrooms

2 tspflour
-
2/3 cheinz chili sauce ( i made andy's homemade chili sauce)

1/2 cbeef broth ( i use beef bullion)

2 tsplemon juice

2 tspworcestershire sauce

1 dashfrank's hot sauce (two drops)
How To Make salisbury steak, my favorite

1Make your beef patties however you like or you can use the one I posted. Mix your ground beef in a large bowl. Add onion, bell pepper, garlic, dry mustard, paprika, bayou blast and salt and pepper. Divide and shape your beef mixture into 4 patties and place in frying pan over med heat. Fry until done (approx 20 min). Or you can broil or barbecue your patties. I pan fried because it was snowing to hard.

2While the patties are cooking, make your sauce.

3In a large saucepan, melt the butter over med heat and add the sliced mushrooms. Cook for about 10 minutes until mushrooms are tender then sprinkle with flour and stir until mixed well with the butter. While mushrooms are cooking, add Andy's chili sauce, beef broth, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce into a small bowl and mix. Add sauce mixture to mushroom/butter/flour in saucepan and bring to a boil. Turn down heat and simmer for about 1 or 2 minutes more.

4Spoon the sauce over the patties. Make Andy's sauce the day before or have it handy in the refrigerator..
