I made this for the family for the first time last year, and it was a hit with the adults AND children! Plus, it was my very first meatloaf, and I rather enjoyed it.

Move over plain old meatloaf... this Parmesan meatloaf will win you over. The meatloaf is half ground beef and half ground chicken, but it's filled with Italian herbs, and you'd never know the difference. Then, it's topped with tomato sauce and a thick layer of cheese. This easy meatloaf recipe is a delicious weeknight dinner. We heated the rest of the marinara sauce and drizzled a little extra when serving.

Ingredients For parmesan meatloaf

  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 lb
    lean ground turkey
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 1/4 c
    bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried thyme
  • 1 - 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 sm
    onion, minced
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 c
    grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 c
    marinara pasta sauce
  • 1/2 c
    Italian cheese mix

Ours baked for 50 minutes. Then we added the cheese and baked for another 10 minutes for 60 minutes total.
  • Combine meats, seasonings, eggs, bread crumbs, garlic, and onions.

    Place in a greased loaf pan and form a loaf.

    Top with sauce. Then place on a baking sheet.

    Bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for 45-60 minutes.

    Remove and add the cheese on top. Place back in the oven until the cheese melts. Let rest 5-10 minutes before serving.
