You can use an indoor grill pan or grill this flank steak outside. From Cooking Light April 2012. Suggested sides are Garlic Asparagus and Garlic Mashed Potatoes. The sauce is what makes this recipe!

Ingredients For grilled flank steak with soy-mustard sauce

  • 1 lb
    flank steak, trimmed
  • 3/8 tsp
    kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper, freshly ground
  • cooking spray
  • 2 tsp
    canola oil
  • 3 tsp
    fresh garlic, minced
  • 4 Tbsp
    low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tsp
    dijon mustard
  • 3/4 tsp
    sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    heavy whipping cream
  • 3 Tbsp
    fresh cilantro, chopped and divided

How To Make grilled flank steak with soy-mustard sauce

    Heat a grill pan over high heat. (Or get your outdoor grill heated up to high/medium-high.) Sprinkle steak evenly with salt and pepper. Lightly coat the steak with cooking spray. Add steak to pan; grill for 5 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness. Let stand 3 minutes.

    Heat a small skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil to pan; swirl to coat. Add garlic; cook for 30 seconds or until fragrant. Add soy sauce, mustard, and sugar; cook 1 minute or until bubbly. Remove pan from heat. Stir in cream and 1 1/2 tablespoon cilantro.

    Cut steak diagonally across grain into thin slices. Sprinkle with remaining 1 1/2 tablespoon cilantro. Serve sauce with steak.
