My DH especially loved this. The meat was melt in your mouth tender and the taste was a nice change from the usual. After you have it in the pot there is nothing to do but checking occasionally and adding a little water if need be.

Ingredients For deviled beef

1 1/2 lbchuck roast (stewing steak)

2 Tbspshortening

1small onion

1/4 call-purpose flour

1 Tbsptomato paste

1 Tbspworcestershire sauce

1 Tbspprepared mustard

1 Tbsphoney

1 Tbspvinegar

1 3/4 cwater (about)

1beef bouillon cube, crumbled (stock cube)

How To Make deviled beef

1Cut chuck steak into 1 inches cubes.

2In a skillet with a lid melt shortening, add the onions and meat and brown for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

3Add the flour and mix well. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to the boil, stirring constantly.

4Reduce the heat cover with a lid. Simmer very gently, stirring occasionally, for 2 - 2 1/2 hours or until the meat is tender.

5Season to taste. Turn into a warm casserole and serve immediately.
