I always have loved this dish, Mom would make it occasionally while we were growing up and it has a taste you just can't beat. I also tend to double the sour cream from Mom's original recipe but it makes it so much richer

Ingredients For beef stroganoff

  • 2 lb
    top round steak sliced in 1 1/2 inch strips
  • 2
    med yellow onion chopped
  • 1 lb
    sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 c
    butter, unsalted
  • 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    marjoram, dried
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    pepper, black ground
  • 1/2 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1/4 c
    ketchup
  • 2 c
    beef broth
  • 1 pt
    sour cream
  • 1 pkg
    wide noodles

How To Make beef stroganoff

    trim and slice top round steaks into 1 1/2 inch strips
  • 2
    flour meat and brown in large skillet in butter
  • 3
    add all of the other ingredients except for the noodles and sour cream,

    simmer for 1 1/2 hours
  • 5
    add sour cream, return to a simmer and heat through
  • 6
    bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add noodles, cook to package instructions, drain
  • 7
    combine noodles and stroganoff and enjoy
