Ingredients For touchdown calzones

1 pkghot roll mix (16 oz)

1 1/4 chot water

2 Tbspcanola oil
-
1 1/4 lbspicy Italian sausage

3/4 cpizza sauce, plus more for dipping

4 cshredded mozzarella cheese
-
1mozzarella stick
-
2 Tbspmelted butter
-
1/2 tspminced garlic
-
1/4 cfresh grated Parmesan cheese
How To Make touchdown calzones

1Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Brown sausage. Drain and set aside.

2Mix hot roll mix with hot water and canola oil according to the package for pizza dough. Roll into 8 pieces. Roll each piece into an oval shape.

3Place about 1/3 cup sausage mixture on each roll. Place about 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce and 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese on each.

4Bring up the dough edges and pinch them together to seal. Place on pan seam side up and flatten slightly to form a football shape. Let rise for about 25 minutes.

5Place mozzarella strips on top to form a lace design. Bake for 20 minutes.

6While still hot, brush with melted butter and minced garlic. Sprinkle grated Parmesan and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
