I make this in my 6 qt. Nesco slow cooker and simmer on low heat for several hours. I also prefer to use the Italian sausage links.

Ingredients For spaghetti sauce

1 can(28 oz.) crushed tomatoes

1 can(12 oz.) tomato paste

1 can(16 oz.) tomato sauce

2-3 chot water
-
1 TbspItalian seasoning

1 tsporegano
-
1/2 tspbasil
-
1/4 - 1/2 tspcrushed red pepper

1/8 tspblack pepper
-
1-2 tspsalt

1 lblean ground beef
-
5Italian sausages, mild or hot OR
-
1 lbbulk Italian sausage
-
1 lgonion, diced
-
2-3 clovegarlic, minced
-
1 mdbell pepper, chopped
-
1 lbfresh mushrooms, sliced or quartered
How To Make spaghetti sauce

1Combine first 10 ingredients; allow to simmer at least 1/2 hour.

2While sauce is simmering, brown ground beef, onion and garlic. If bulk sausage is used, brown with ground beef. Drain meat mixture.

3Add meat mixture to tomato mixture. If sausage links are used, cut into bite-sized pieces and add uncooked pieces to sauce.

4Add bell pepper and allow to simmer 1-2 hours; add mushrooms and simmer additional 1/2 hour.

5Serve with cooked spaghetti and parmesan cheese, if desired.
