I love these burgers with sliced black olives. They're also excellent with sauteed onions, peppers & mushrooms.

How To Make italian meatball burgers
-
1Prepare your outdoor grill or countertop grill.
-
2Remove the casings from the sausage. Combine sausage, ground beef & species in a bowl. Form into 6 equal patties.
-
3Place patties on outdoor grill rack coated with cooking spray & grill for 5 minutes. Turn & grill for 2-3 more minutes. Place a slice of mozzarella on each patty & grill 4-5 more minutes or until a meat thermometer inserted in the middle of the burgers registers 165 degrees. Remove from the grill; let stand about 5 minutes. Place one patty on the bottom half of each bun; top with marinara sauce & the top of the bun.
-
4NOTE: If you prepare these burgers using a countertop grill, your cooking time will be shortened because countertop grills cook from both sides. Check interior temperature after about 5 minutes. Top with mozzarella when appropriate; cover loosely with aluminum foil to allow cheese to melt.
