hamburger cheese bake

This is the first casserole I ever made. Been using the same recipe since 1969. It tastes almost like lasagne, just different pasta. Leftovers, if there are any, are great warmed up the next day. I am making this tomorrow (5/23/21) to take to a family member with a new baby!

Ingredients For hamburger cheese bake

  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    chopped onion
  • 2 can
    tomato sauce (8 oz size)
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    each: salt, pepper and garlic powder
  • 4 c
    uncooked medium noodles
  • 1 c
    cottage cheese
  • 1 pkg
    (8 ounce size) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 c
    sour cream
  • 1/3 c
    chopped green onions
  • 1/3 c
    chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 c
    parmesan cheese

How To Make hamburger cheese bake

    Cook meat and onions. Stir in tomato sauce, sugar, salt, garlic powder and pepper. Remove from heat. Cook noodles.

    Combine cottage cheese, cream cheese and sour cream, green onions and green peppers.

    In a pan (13x9 size) spread half the noodles; top with slightly less than half the meat sauce, cover with cheese mixture. Add remaining noodles and meat sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
