I was raised in a Italian home and pasta was served every Sunday. I found this recipe on a Contadina can and it's better than mom's. I did tweak it a bit. Please don't tell mom.

Ingredients For chef's choice sauce for pasta

1 lblean ground beef, italian sausage or ground turkey

1 1/2 cchopped onions

2 clovegarlic
-
2 c18-ounce can tomatoe paste (contadina)

1 can14.5 -ounce can whole peeled tomatoes and juice contadina

3 cwater
-
1/3 cred wine or beef broth
-
1 1/2 tspdried oregano crushsed
-
1 1/2 tspdried basil crushed
-
1/2 tspsalt or to taste
-
1/4 tspground black pepper
-
1 lbcooked pasta
-
1 Tbspsugar
-
1 tspred pepper (optional)
How To Make chef's choice sauce for pasta

1In large saucepan, brown gound beef with onions and garlic; drain.

2Stir in tomato paste, tomatoes and juice, water wine, oregano, basil, salt and pepper and sugar.

3Bring to a boil; simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Serve over hot pasta.

4VARIATIONS Saute vegetables in olive oil and add to the sauce. It also can be cooked in a crock pot for 4 hours on high. I like it better in the crock pot.
