I live near the coast and have visited Kill Devil Hills on the Outer Banks many times. This is a recipe given to me by a native there. Delicious !

Ingredients For kill devil hills crabcakes

  • 1 lb
    flaked crabment - picked through for shell fragments
  • 3/4 c
    cracker crumbs
  • 1 lg
    egg, beaten
  • 1/3 c
    minced onion
  • 1/3 c
    minced red bell pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp
    worchestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    dijon mustard
  • 3/4 tsp
    hot sauce
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • cracker crumbs, for coating
  • oil for frying (i use canola or peanut)

How To Make kill devil hills crabcakes

  • 1
    Mix together first 11 ingredients with a fork in a bowl.

    Form the mixture into patties and roll in cracker crumbs to coat (see photo)

    Heat the oil on medium heat and fry until patties are a golden brown.

    Drain on paper towels and serve hot....Enjoy
