An updated version of an old classic; younger, brighter, lighter and healthier. Walk away from the heavy mayo and buttery sauces and really enjoy the combination of fresh flavors coming together to make something really special. My Asian dipping sauce recipe is included, which you'll come back to again and again. Ready in just a few minutes, it's great with egg rolls, dim sum, wontons and many other dishes. A great mixture of sweet, savory and just a hint of spice. (Prep time does not include time in fridge.)

How To Make asian sesame salmon patties with dipping sauce

  • 1
SALMON PATTIES Combine all salmon patty ingredients, using only 1/2 cup of the breadcrumbs. (The other half will be used for breading later.) Gently fold together.
  • 2
Using a 1/4 cup measuring cup, scoop out and form into patties. You should get 6-7, 1/2" thick.
  • 3
Place the second 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs on a plate. Add 2 tsp. of sesame seeds. Bread each of the patties with the breadcrumb mixture. Press breadcrumbs and sesame seeds into the patties lightly. Refrigerate 1-3 hours. ( I make them in the morning and cook later in the day.)

DIPPING SAUCE Combine all sauce ingredients in a small sauce pan. Heat just until garlic is soft and fragrant, just a few minutes. Let cool slightly. Right before serving, add a few sesame seeds to dipping bowls for garnish.
  • 5
Add a little canola or other neutral oil in a large frying pan and heat. Fry patties until golden, four or five minutes per side. Serve with basmati rice, sugar snap pea pods and dipping sauce on the side. Garnish with additional chopped spring onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
