I found this recipe many years ago and it has become a family favorite. When I passed it along to my daughter-in-law and she made it, her son renamed it WHALE! We don't know why, but ever since then that is what we call it. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures, never thought to take one before. We serve this with mashed potatos, fruit or salad and veggies.

Ingredients For whale (crispy chicken)

  • 1
    egg
  • 2 Tbsp
    milk
  • 1 c
potato flakes, dry (must be flakes)
  • 1/4 c
    parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tbsp
garlic salt (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1/4 c
    butter (margarine is okay)
  • 4
    chicken breasts, or 6-8 thighs

How To Make whale (crispy chicken)

  • 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Beat egg and milk together and set aside
  • 2
Melt margarine in 9x13 inch baking pan
  • 3
Roll Chicken in egg/milk mix, then coat with potato flake mix (place potato flakes, parmesan cheese and garlic salt in a ziplock bag for coating)
  • 4
Bake, skin side up, in 400 degree oven for 45-50 minutes. I find that if you will use 1 stick of butter and turn the chicken once, it comes out better.
