Well. this is the famous "1st Dinner" recipe. When I was single, I served this to the guys that I had over for dinner for the first time. They were always impressed and always asked me to make it again. Try it, it works. I serve it with biscuits or bread.

Chicken Divan is no ordinary casserole. We can see why this recipe worked on all of Bonnie's suitors. It was a big hit in the Test Kitchen. We chose to use basil, rosemary, and thyme as our herbs of choice, and it was a pure delight. This Chicken Divan is creamy, cheesy, and very good. We guarantee an empty casserole dish by the end of your meal.

Ingredients For the best chicken divan

  • 5-6
    boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 2 bunch
    fresh broccoli, cut into spears
  • 1 box
    mushrooms, fresh, sliced
  • 8 oz
    sour cream
  • 1 can
    cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1 can
    cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 3 c
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 tsp
    spices, any kind you wish

How To Make the best chicken divan

  • Prepping baking dish while oven preheats.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 9" x 13" with Pam non-stick coating.
  • Broccoli cooked; cooked chicken shredded.

    Precook chicken in water until tender. Cut into bite-sized pieces. Precook broccoli until tender.
  • Sour cream, creamed soups, spices, and sliced mushrooms in a bowl.

    Combine sour cream and soups. Add spices and sliced mushrooms. Stir until combined.
  • Casserole layered with broccoli, chicken pieces, sauce, and cheese.

    Place broccoli on the bottom of the baking dish. Put chicken pieces on top of broccoli. Spread sauce over the chicken. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over top.

    Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Serve hot.
