Ingredients For southern style fried chicken

  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    cajun seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 tsp
    ground thyme
  • 2 tsp
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    black pepper
  • 6
    chicken thighs bone in and skin on
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • oil for deep frying

How To Make southern style fried chicken

  • 1
    Place the flour and seasonings into a large baggie. Whisk the eggs together. Toss the chicken pieces one at a time in the baggie of flour. lay them on a wax paper lined sheet.

    When all have been coated with flour take them one at a time and dip them in the egg mixture then back in the flour until well coated. Lay them back on the sheet pan.

    Set them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Bring the oil up to 350 degrees. Cook the chicken a couple of pieces at a time for 6 to 8 minutes. Remove and set on a paper towel lined sheet. Repeat until all the chicken is done and let them rest for 10 minutes to complete the cooking.
