The beauty of this chicken is that it can be prepared in a short time or even the night before. It turns out so moist, and will probably be browner in color than in the photo I took. You can use your own preferences for spices. This chicken is very good with different flavors.

Have you ever walked into a store that sells rotisserie chicken while it's cooking? That wonderful aroma is how your house will smell while this slow cooker chicken is cooking. Extremely tender, it literally fell off the bone. We made a gravy with the drippings, and it was wonderful. This is an easy slow cooker weeknight meal.

whole chicken

1/2 - 1 cranch dressing, sour cream, buttermilk, or mayonnaise (your choice, or mix & match)

1 tspgarlic powder

1 tsppaprika

1 TbspCajun seasoning (optional, use Cajun seasoning in place of garlic powder and paprika)

1 tspWorcestershire sauce or cap full of liquid smoke

1/4 cbutter

The skin does not get crisp, but can be placed under the broiler for a few minutes to crisp up.

1Things you will need: A slow cooker (mine is 5.5 qt.) and a rack that fits in the bottom or something that will keep the chicken off the bottom due to liquid build-up.

2Wash the chicken and pat dry with a paper towel.

3In a small bowl, put 1/2 - 1 cup of dressing of your choice and mix with the spices.

4Carefully separate the skin covering the breast area and spoon the dressing mixture under the skin, spreading as you go. Use all of the mixture.

5With the same bowl, put in about 1/4 cup of butter and mix with paprika and garlic powder (or any combination of your choice of spice). Now, let’s get down and messy. With your hands, rub the butter mixture all over the outside of the chicken until most of everything is covered. Let the chicken rest.

6While the chicken is resting, spray the bottom and sides of the slow cooker. Place the small rack in the bottom.

7Put the chicken, breast side up, on the rack.

8Cook for approximately 8 hours on low or 4-6 hours on high, depending on your slow cooker.

9This chicken is so juicy and tender, it will fall off the bone while you are getting it out of the slow cooker. Enjoy!
