Ingredients For slow-cooked chicken in wine sauce

  • 4 slice
    bacon,cut into pieces
  • 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    kosher salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    black pepper
  • 3-3 1/2 lb
    cut-up frying chicken;skin removed,or boneless parts of chioce
  • 1 1/2 c
    baby carrots
  • 1 c
    frozen tiny onions,thawed
  • 1 jar
    mushrooms,drained ,4.5 ounce size whole
  • 1 clove
    garlic,minced
  • 3/4 c
    merlot wine
  • 1/2 c
    chicken stock
  • 2 tsp
    parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried thyme leaves
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried marjoram leaves
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    chopped fresh parsley

How To Make slow-cooked chicken in wine sauce

    Cook bacon in a large non-stick pan.Medium heat until crisp.

    Remove the bacon,DRAIN on paper towels.REFRIGERATE UNTIL NEEDED.

    Remove and discard all but 2 tbsps. of the bacon drippings from skillet.

    Combine 1'/4 cup flour ,salt and pepper,mix well.Coat chicken pieces well with the flour mixture.

    Add the chicken piecesto skilletcok 7-10 minutes or until deep golden brown on all sides.

    Place the browned chicken in a crockpot.

    In same skillet,combine the carrots,onions,mushrooms,and garlic.Cook and stir over medium heat about 5 minutes or until lightly browned.

    Add to the chicken in the crockpot.

    Add the wine,broth,dried parsley,thyme,and marjoram to same skillet,cook and stir until hot,scraping up BITS from bottom of the skillet.Pour over the chicken in the crockpot.

    COVER and cook on LOW for 7-9 hours.until chicken is fork-tender.and its juices run clear and veggies are tender.

    REMOVE THE CHICKEN AND VEGGIES with a slotted spoon.Place on a serving platter.COVER WITH FOIL TO KEEP IT WARM.

    in a small bowl,combine water and 2 tbsps. of flour;blend well.Add to crockpot,increase temperature to HIGH setting,cook until thickened.

    Sprinkle chicken with the reserved bacon and chopped parsley.

    SERVE WITH THE WARM SAUCE.
