Ingredients For pulled bbq chicken sandwiches

1 Tbspcanola oil

1 lgonion, chopped

3 clovegarlic, minced

1 can(14 oz.) low-sodium tomato sauce

1/4 ctomato paste

1/2 cwater
-
1/3 capple cider vinegar
-
5 Tbspmolasses
-
1/4 tspground black pepper
-
1/2 tspliquid smoke
-
1whole rotisserie chicken, skin removed, meat shredded into thin strips (about 4 to 4 1/2 cups)

6whole-wheat hamburger rolls

6 lggreen lettuce leaves
How To Make pulled bbq chicken sandwiches

1Heat the oil in a large saute pan over a medium heat.

2Add the onions and cook until they are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

3Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute more.

4Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, vinegar, molasses, black pepper, and liquid smoke.

5Bring to a boil.

6Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15 minutes.

7Add chopped chicken.

8Return to a simmer, and cook an additional 10 minutes.

9Split rolls.

10Please a leaf of lettuce on each roll.

11Pile on 3/4 cup of the chicken mixture onto each roll.
