In an effort to try to make a healthy fried chicken meal that my husband, who puts hot sauce on everything, would like I came up with this recipe. You can make it as hot as you like, I toned it down some for my daughter we still enjoyed it, although hubby still added hot sauce.

Ingredients For oven fire chicken

  • 2 1/2 lb
    boneless skinless chicken breast flattened 1/4 inch
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1-2 Tbsp
    cajun seasoning
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1/4 c
    hot sauce - depending on how hot you want it
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 2 c
    italian breadcrumbs
  • 2 Tbsp
    dried thyme
  • salt and pepper
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter cut in small pats
  • cooking spray

How To Make oven fire chicken

    Pre heat oven 400 degrees, Place a cookie cooling rack inside of a cookie sheet, spray with cooking spray, gather 3 flat bowls for dredging the chicken

    Season the chicken with the salt and pepper

    In a flat bowl mix the flour and Cajun seasoning together
  • 4
    In another flat bowl whisk the eggs, water and hot sauce together
  • 5
    In another flat bowl mix the thyme and breadcrumbs
  • 6
    Dredge the chicken first in the flour mixture next in the egg mixture and lastly in the breadcrumb mixture.

    Place the chicken on the prepared cookie sheet with the rack

    Bake in the oven for about 45 mins or until it is nice and crispy.
