Ingredients For orange chicken

  • FOR THE CHICKEN
  • 3
    boneless chicken thighs cut into bite size pieces
  • 2
    eggs beaten
  • 1 c
    cornstarch
  • 1/2 c
    flour
  • salt and white pepper
  • vegetable oil
  • FOR THE ORANGE SAUCE
  • 1 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 4 dash
    garlic minced
  • 1
    inch knob of ginger grated
  • 2/3 c
    fresh orange juice
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp
    chili garlic sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    hoisin saucre
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp
    water
  • 3
    green onions chopped

How To Make orange chicken

    Place the eggs in one shallow dish. Mix the cornstarch, flour, salt and white pepper together in another shallow dish. Dip the chicken pieces in the eggs then dredge into the cornstarch mixture shaking off excess. Add about 1 inch of oil to a large skillet. Cook the chicken pieces until golden on both side. Set aside on a rack over a paper towel to drain.

    Get out a saucepan and place the oil in it. Add the garlic and ginger and cook 30 seconds. Add the orange juice, lemon juice, soy sauce, vinegar, chili garlic sauce, hoisin and brown sugar. Heat to a simmer then bring to a boil. Mix the cornstarch and water together and whisk it into the sauce to thicken. Remove from heat.

    Place the chicken on top of rice or noodles then pour the orange sauce over top and garnish with green onions.
