This is a chicken,mushroom,and almonds recipe in a cream sauce with a pastry top. No more needs to be said!

Ingredients For nutty chicken pie

  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    light cream
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt(omit if using a bouillon cube to make broth)
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 c
    chicken broth
  • 1/4 tsp
    dill weed
  • 1 tsp
    chopped parsley
  • 2 c
    cooked diced chicken
  • 1 can
    (4oz)sliced mushrooms,drained
  • 1/2 c
    toasted slivered almonds
  • pastry for a single crust 9" pie

How To Make nutty chicken pie

  • 1
    Melt butter and blend in flour. Gradually stir in cream and cook,stirring until smooth and thick. Add salt,pepper,chicken broth,dill weed,and parsley,and cook until smooth and thick once more.

    Stir in chicken,mushrooms,and almonds. Pour into a 9" deep dish pie plate and cover with pastry.

    Slash top and bake on a cookie sheet in preheated oven to 450 for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 and bake 15 minutes more.
