Ingredients For hungarian-style chicken paprikash

    2 1/2 pound chicken, cut into serving pieces
  • salt & pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    dijon mustard
  • 2
    onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 stick
    butter
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    ketchup
  • 1 tsp
    better than bouillon chicken (or chicken stock base of your choice)
  • 1/2 c
    white wine
  • 1/2 c
    tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    paprika
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 c
    sour cream

How To Make hungarian-style chicken paprikash

    Sprinkle chicken, front & back, with salt & pepper. Toss chicken in mustard and coat evenly. Place chicken in a roasting pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Remove from oven.

    Saute onions in butter until tender and translucent in a pan large enough to contain chicken. Add brown sugar and cook until sugar has melted. Add ketchup, stock base, wine, tomato sauce, paprika and s & p. Simmer mixture for approximately 5 minutes.

    Transfer chicken to sauce and simmer 15 minutes. Adjust seasoning. Just before serving, add sour cream and stir until mixed and heated through. Serve chicken with buttered egg noodles, if desired.
